On the cold morning of 8 December 1990, VIA Rail Canada F40PH-2 #6420 rests at Windsor, Ontario waiting for a departure to Toronto later in the day. To the left can been seen the Renaissance Center in Detroit, and to the right the Hiram Walker & Sons Distillery.
This unit was built in July 1987 by GMD in London, Ontario. It is still wearing its delivery paint scheme. The 6420 is attached a 4-car string of LRC cars, also wearing their delivery paint.
The locomotive would be rebuilt to an F40PH-3 in May 2012, and remains in service with VIA to this day, some 33 years after construction.
