The Lenawee County Railroad Company’s Alco S2 #2, named “George Crane”, arrives in Adrian, Michigan, returning from a run to the Conrail interchange at Lenawee Jct. It is 08 December 1982, and the train is crossing the diamond with the Norfolk & Western Railway’s Detroit-St. Louis main line on the east side of Adrian.
LCRC trains would stop here before crossing the diamond, and press a button to request the signal. The dwarf signal would then clear, allowing the LCRC train to cross.
Number 2 was built by Alco in August 1941 for the Union Railroad as their #508. It would serve the LCRC until the company shut down on 30 September 1990. It was then stored in Blissfield, Mich. until being scrapped in 1992.
