A late spring snowstorm was underway when Edward Hodges photographed Conrail’s southbound “Clinton Local” on 18 March 1977. The train is just approaching the Staib Road crossing, located between Clinton and Tecumseh, Michigan.
Conrail has been in existence for almost one year at this point, but the scene is unadulterated Penn Central. Neither GP-7 PC 5778 not caboose PC 19882 have received Conrail markings. Both pieces of equipment were regularly assigned to the Clinton Line in the 1976–7 period.
