On a Saturday afternoon in August 1980, Conrail GP-7 #5645 is spending the weekend on the spur into the Budd Company plant in Clinton, MI, at the end of CR’s Clinton Secondary track. It arrived on Friday evening from Lenawee Junction, MI with empty boxcars for the Budd Wheel and Brake Division. The crew will return on Monday to switch the empties into the plant and pull the loads.

CR 5645 is still in its patched Penn Central paint job. The locomotive was delivered to the New York Central System also as #5645 in September 1951. Disposition is unknown. Marty Bernard photographed the locomotive in NYC paint in 1962.

The photograph of #5645 was taken by Edward H. Hodges and scanned from the original slide.
