On the winter evening of 07 February 1987, Southern Michigan Railroad Plymouth 35-tonner O&M 57 poses with an ex-N&W Fairmont M19 motor car #64553.
The Plymouth had returned from a day trip to Tecumseh, and was ready to be put away for the night. The warmth of the SMRS museum building in the background awaited the photographers and crew.
The former-Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railroad Clinton yard has an interesting track arrangement. Here the motor car is sitting on the “grain track”, which at one time led to the Atlas Mill, several blocks away. It is crossing the Clinton passing track on a diamond, and just behind the motor car is another diamond crossing with the spur that led to the Clinton Grain Co. The diamonds remain in place to this day.
